Panel Session

To what extent is there a migration problem?

At BIGMUN 2026, we are proudly anticipating our Panel Session which will take place on Friday the 24th of February (9:15 - 10:30). This year, the session's focus revolves around the current global rise in migration.

So far we are honoured to welcome two guest speakers, each with their own connection, perspective, and expertise regarding our topic.

Marie-Claire Dejean-Pannier (Danish Refugee Council)

An international human resources leader based in Copenhagen, currently serving as Head of International HR Partnering at the Danish Refugee Council. She has extensive experience supporting humanitarian and international operations, particularly in North and West Africa, and has previously worked with organisations including UNDP and international NGOs. With a background in political science and formal training in human resources management and business writing, she possesses strong expertise in people management, organisational quality, evaluation, and team collaboration within complex, global contexts.

Henrik Vigh (Copenhagen University)

A political anthropologist whose work focuses on crisis, conflict, crime, and migration, with extensive fieldwork in Europe and West Africa. Their research explores how people—particularly young men and undocumented migrants—navigate lives shaped by long-term political instability, inequality, and violence. Using ethnographic methods, they study issues such as transnational crime, migration and illegalisation, racialisation, and the social effects of crisis, examining how global power structures, political networks, and economic inequality shape everyday life. Their work contributes to debates on conflict, mobility, social cohesion, and survival in unstable and unequal societies.
